Sunday night I was sorting some cards and came to a huge stack of 2014 OD. At the time I was searching for Yankees. As I was pulling out a few Mariano Rivera cards I came across these....
Within 10 cards of each other was the regular issue Rivera and the photo variation. As most of you the variations are very tough pulls, so needless to say I was happy to find such a good one. I'm not one to sell my cards so if any of my Yankee's friends are interested just let me know and maybe we can work out a trade.
Whats makes this whole scenario so funny is that I've studied the list of variations on cardboardconnection.com on numerous occasions (Jose Fernandez is my favorite if you click on the link). My guess is that I pulled this from a Target Blaster looking for specific cards to complete my set and just pushed this one aside. For those that I've sent Opening Day cards take a second look as I might have passed along a hidden gem. Mistakes like this is what makes searching dime boxes so much fun since as OD base cards often end up there. Stay vigilant dime box hunters!
