The Big Bull

Pedro Alvarez had a big game last night against the Cardinals hitting two tape measure homeruns.  If the Pirates played the Cardinals all season Pedro would hit 300 long balls.  He just seems to go on a different level against the Red Birds.  Lets hope this gets him going early as he has had a history of being a slow starter.

I've been trying to get my hands on a McCutchen and Alvarez patch card from the 2013 Postseason set out of Topps Series 1.  Finally about a month ago I was able to get my hands on this patch of Pedro.  It is a good chunk of the Pirate logo numbered to /100.  I'm still on the hunt for the Cutch.  The prices on Ebay are still higher than what I'm willing to pay.

Hope everybody is having a good weekend.  Thanks for checking out the blog.

  1. Wow is that patch sick as heck. Nice pickup!

BTW, would you be interested in a (blind) trade? I've got a stack of random Pirates I've been looking to move for a while.

  2. That's just awesome! Glad to see your Pirates have a winning record. I'm still waiting for the A's and Padres to figure things out.

  3. Yep he is a Cardinal killer always has been. I have always wondered why is it certain players play better against certain teams.

    1. In Pedro's case I think it is just being familiar with the Cards and the fact they never had many left handed starters.
