Adam from
Infield Fly Rule and I started blogging around the same time. It took us a while to pull the trigger on our first trade, but now we are to the point where we just set aside some cards for each other. Blind trades are the best trades!
This time around Adam sent three team bags of various Pirates covering the last 20-25 years. The bulk of the group being current Pirates. Here is a sample of some of my favorites.
I would say this is a good photo of Mr. Walk, but every picture of the legend is a work of art. Obviously the batter has no chance as Walk looks to be bringing the heat.

This is a huge year for Pedro. Josh Bell will be knocking on the door next year to take his first base job. Seems kind of weird as just two years a go it looked like Pedro was going to be one of the building blocks of the Pirates. Personally I don't see many scenarios in which he stays a Pirate once his current contract is up.
Always been a fan of the Collector Choice cards. Jay Bell is a guy that I'm surprised hasn't had a certified auto yet. I'm pulling for him to get a Fan Favorites soon.

DeleteI've always liked Van Slyke. I just looked up his stats and the guy had double digit HR's and SB's for the better part of his MLB career.In '88 he hit 25 HR's ,stole 30 bases,drove In an even 100 and hit .288.Oh yeah,he also hit 15 Triples and and doubled 23 times.Not too shabby.

DeleteBased on the McCutchen cards seen here I have a feeling you could recreate McCutchen's swing and follow through using nothing but his pictures on his cards by the time he retires.

DeleteLots of nice cards! It's going to take a while to get used to McCutchen without his dreads. Jay Bell has at least one certified auto that I know of but it's not with him in a Pirates uniform. It's a 1998 Donruss Signature Series card.
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm really hoping he gets a fan favorites auto soon. The Pirates are represented in that set often, but they have been rehashing a lot of madlock, oliver and van slyke autos.
