Last night I started looking through some of my vintage Buccos. I have a few 52's in my collection, but these are by far the best conditioned.
I may have to become a Ted Beard super collector as I have featured his 51 Bowman earlier in the year.
While vintage always takes a back seat to the modern cards I still find myself picking up cards here and there. They offer a nice change a pace and tell a much better story. Everytime I pull vintage cards I end up spending at least 30 minutes reading SABR pages. What a great resource.
Hope everyone is enjoying the playoff games. Thanks for reading.
Can you imagine having a name like "Ted Beard" in today's game and NOT having facial hair?
ReplyDeleteThe Yankees would make him change his name.
DeleteI've gone down the SABR rabbit hole many times! So many great stories, they do a nice job for sure.
ReplyDeleteThe amount of detail is amazing.
DeleteVery nice '52s! A few months back I bought a trio of '52s on COMC - Sibby Sisti, Eddie Yost, and Murry Dickson. I submitted them to PSA and the only one that didn't come back as trimmed was the Dickson - which came back an EX 5.
ReplyDeleteA 5 is pretty good! I've never had a card graded myself. I own a few that I've purchased on the secondary market, but never pulled the trigger myself.
DeleteAlways liked how the 1952 Topps Beard bio links him to Babe Ruth's last home run at Forbes Field.
ReplyDeleteThat is the beauty of SABR pages. Soon you find yourself clicking away and it is 2am.
