Ebay Day

I usually make it a habit to avoid new release cards as the prices are at a premium.  Thankfully when I came across this patch of Gerrit Cole the seller and I were able to come to a quick agreement on a price after just one offer.  Always nice to find a seller who doesn't try and nickel and dime you for every last penny.  I was happy to add a premium patch of Cole.  I have several auto's, but only one other patch card.  This one is from Topps Tribute and it is numbered out of /24.

The other day I was putting a best offer on a card that I really wanted.  I believe the seller had a buy it now of $10 or best offer.  It was card I really wanted so I put a bid of $8 thinking that would be a sure thing. The seller came back with $8.75.  I walked away from it out of principal.  Why even have the best offer function?  I'm sure everybody has had at least one moment like this on Ebay.

Hope everybody has a good weekend.  Happy card hunting!

    1. Thanks! The nice patches are hard to find because the cuts are so small, so I was happy to get this one.

  2. That card is beautiful. As for eBay offers... sometimes the counteroffer is a blessing. One time I offered way too much for a Kurt Suzuki autograph I wanted (found one on COMC for a lot less) and luckily the guy countered my offer and let me off the hook.

    1. Thanks Fuji! Yeah I have a love/hate relationship with the best offer. Sometimes I get in that zone and bid on too many cards so the counteroffer has got me off the hook a few times too.

  3. Amazing card!!! I'm very jealous of this one. As for eBay, if its a $50 BIN or BO and I offer $25 cause that's what I value it at and they counter with $30, I normally pull trigger. If its listed as $10 and I offer $6 and its countered with $9.50 I say F it!

    1. I seem to have more trouble with the best offer function on cheap cards like your last example.

  4. Here's an example just happened earlier today. A guy had BIN 39.99 or best offer with free shipping for a David Wright Triple Threads auto. I've been watching the same type of cards numbered to the same or less go low to mid 20s at auction and I offered him 20 and he came back at 29.99 so I countered 25 and he can back at 29.99 again. Another offer I put in for a card at what it's been sellin for at auction which was about half of the BIN price and he countered with a dollar less than his asking price. I just don't get some people and their reasoning

    1. You shouldn't be spending your hard earn money on David Wright anyway. All purchases should be of WVU and Pirate cards that you give to me. :)
