0 For 6

Sometimes patience can save you a good bit of money.  Such was the case with this purchase.

2013 Panini Pen Pals 6 Auto

While most of these guys are still hanging around as backups you would have to consider this high end card a complete flop. Could you imagine the poor soul who bought this card at release. I'm guessing it was probably in the $200 range. I paid around $17.

The appeal for me was to grab a high end card of former WVU great Geno Smith. While he hasn't panned out his stand alone autos still command a decent price.  Having all these other guys on the card actually saved me a few bucks.

The card itself is really nice. Very clean on card autos are a rare commodity. The only real blemish is Nassib's crap signature. I also think he is the only one not on an active roster.

Let's Go Mountaineers.

  1. It's always a roll of dice with cards like this. I got a Taillon, Syndergaard, Archie Bradley auto that was in the $400 range at one point. Now it can be had for under $100.

    1. A lot of those multi autos featuring Cole went way down as well.

  2. Nice! Multiplayer autos are fun. I only have two cards with triple signatures, none higher.

    1. They don't pop up that often....baseball is almost impossible to find more than 3 because if they do exist and it some mega card from Triple Threads featuring Hall of Famers.

  3. Glad you were able to pick up that card on the cheap. Some of those guys were going for a decent dime a few years ago.

I've got mixed emotions on multi-signature cards. Obviously if all of the players pan out, the card can be cornerstone of a collection. But when one (or more of the players) don't pan out... I'd actually rather have a solo signature. The perfect example is I have a Co-Signers autograph with Tony Gwynn and Mark Grudzielanek... but I'd much rather have Tony by himself.

    1. Totally get where you are coming from. The only reason I bought this card is that it sold at the same price as many of the Geno Smith high end solo signatures.

  4. Can't expect too much out of Nassib. He played at Syracuse.
