On the right is none other than Bob Walk himself doing the post game show for Root Sports. My goal will be to one day have him mention Bob Walk the Plank on the broadcast. Here are few more pics of the game today.
As you can it was a beautiful day for baseball!
Now some blog business. Yesterday in the mail I received another package from vintage master himself Mark Hoyle. I've lost track how many times we swapped, but we are just getting to the point where we email each other to give a heads up to expect another package. This envelope was extra special as it contained a big surprise. Check it out.
I think Mark has pretty much completed the Pirates team set for me in the 74 set. The colorful miscut of Parker is great and the Reggie Jackson/Pops card is so cool it deserved its own scan. I've mentioned before that Topps should bring back the oversized TRADED emblem for guys that are moved during the season.
The big surprise Mark sent me was all the great 72-73 vintage hockey cards. I'm a big Penguins fan and have been to a lot of games over the years. My brother is a season ticket holder so I usually have access to tickets when I want to go. I don't have much in way of hockey cards but have a few autographed pucks displayed in my basement. Maybe sometime this Winter I'll have a Bob Walk the Plank hockey day and display them.
How cool were the old Penguins jerseys? Every now and again the Penguins breakout the throwbacks during the season. I love the awkwardly posed photos and the great 70's hairstyles.
Thanks again Mark for all the great cards and the awesome Penguins surprise. A return package is going out in tomorrows mail.
On a side note I believe I'm all caught up on trade posts. If anybody wants to trade just email me at mattscott82@gmail.com.
Thanks for reading.
Jim Rutherford, new Penguins GM. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteThat is why you are on the Bob Walk the Plank payroll.
DeleteIt is cool you got to see Bob Plank, that reminds me of earlier this season as I was leaving Kauffman Stadium and almost literally running into Rex Hudler.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures from the game too. I like taking pictures at all the games I go to, it makes the experience more memorable.
Those are some nice cards too, I immediately noticed the Ken Brett, Ed Kirkpatrick, and Jim Rooker cards. I also liked the Penguins cards too. I collect some of them, my mom is a Penguins fan. I'm not a huge hockey fan, but they are a team I do watch on occasion (as well as the Blues).
Looks like you had a great day.
It was a fun day. Always enjoy day baseball.
DeleteI enjoy hockey a good bit but it is pretty expensive to see a game. Like I said above my brother has season tickets but I feel bad mooching off of him. I usually try to at least pay him face value but that is still around $75 a piece.
I think Bob Walk should be required to keep that late 1980s mullet forever.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I have a package on my desk waiting to go out to you. Now to remember to mail it.
Bob Walk is way too groomed these days. It is a true disappointment to see.
DeleteI've picked up a few cards recently with you in mind as well. Still waiting on some. Also, the box topper will be heading my way this coming weekend.
Wasn't sure about the Pens cards. Glad you liked them.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great surprise. I follow the Penguins pretty closely especially since my brother is such a big fan. The thought has crossed my mind numerous times to start a little mini collection, but I figured I better not open that can of worms. Receiving cards via blog trade will work just fine.
DeleteLooks like a great day at PNC. Nothing quite like a road trip to a ballgame.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy the park. Before I was married I would get to 10-15 games a year. That has been cut in half nowadays but still not bad.
