Dancing

I love March Madness. Just finished taking a look at the bracket.  My Mountaineers are a #4 seed this year and open things up with Bucknell.  Hard to say how the Mountaineers will do this year.  I'm hoping for a nice a run after we bowed out in the first round last year.   Either way I always enjoy this time of year as the end of the tournament helps bring in baseball season.

Some of my best in person sports moments involve WVU tournament games.  I watched WVU beat Duke to go to the Sweet 16 one year and then I witnessed one of the bigger upsets in school history when WVU defeated Kentucky to go to the Final Four.  That Kentucky team had John Wall and Demarcus Cousins.

Here are a few of my favorite basketball cards in my collection.

Thanks for reading!

May your bracket not be busted....

  2. The state of Illinois got a team in The Big Dance this year after being shut out the last three seasons. And surprise, surprise... it takes Northwestern getting their first ever invitation to break the streak! I have no loyalties to NU.
If you don't mind, I think I'm going to jump on the Mountaineer bandwagon this year.

    1. I got mine about a year after it released. I paid too much but wasn't sure if I would see another one.

  4. Good luck to your Mountaineers! I'm going to need a list of all West Virginia alumns before we can break the ice on a trade. A pair of Pirates cards is not enough to send the recipient of so many JBF bombings.

    1. Who knows how this will play out. No powerhouse this year other than Gonzaga, and they haven't played a power 5 school since December.

  6. Kevin Pittsnoggle was the man in those tourny runs. I'm cheering for Villanova again this year. Had a blast watching the championship game in Philly last year.

    1. It is funny how guys like Pittsnogle become so memorable. That is the beauty of the tournament. Villanova is going to be a tough out again.

  7. Good luck to the Mountaineers! The Hokies finally are in after a 10 year absence but have a tough draw with Wisconsin and with a win, Villanova. But it will be fun just to have them dancing again.

    1. I was surprised Buzz Williams took that job. He was a pain in our butts when he was at Marquette. Congrats to the Hokies!

    1. Even better for me that cards featuring West in his WVU uniform sale much cheaper.

  10. March Madness is pretty much the only time I'll watch basketball. If St. Mary's (local team) gets knocked out of the West, then I'll be giving my support to WVU (in your honor). Although... I wouldn't mind seeing Gonzaga (west coast love) or Arizona (best friend's school) make it to the Final Four either.

    1. Arizona looks like they have a nice chance for a deep run. They have a great team. I hope Gonzaga fails at some point as WVU will have to face them if all goes well.
