Just a Pack

I had one of those days where I just needed to open a pack of cards. It is always a nice distraction from the daily grind.  Time to hit the emergency stash.

Today I dug out a pack of 2008 Bowman.  That doesn't seem like that long ago, but holy shit 9 years! You could definitely sense the time gap from the base cards.

This was a cool card to start things off with. Zippy would be proud that I showed this one off first.

See what I mean about 2008 being a long time ago.  Markakis is the only one seeing regular playing time out of the bunch.  I read that Crawford is trying to get back on a roster, but I have a feeling he might be done too.
Poor Jeremy Bonderman was on some really bad Tigers teams. He did manage to carve out a career pitching in parts of 9 seasons.

I definitely didn't do well with the 1st year cards. Without looking I would say the ship has sailed for all these guys.

Big 12 tournament time.  Let's Go Mountaineers!

Thanks for reading.

  2. it blows my mind how far Crawford fell once he left the (Devil) Rays...he was one of my favorites for a couple of years too.

    1. Speed guys tend to peak early. He was soooooo good for the Rays, but he is one of the reasons why teams don't give huge deals to guys like that.

    2. I've been to one game at The Trop and it was Crawford's first game in Tampa after he signed with Boston. Man, a mixed bag of emotions were on display from the fans when he came to bat for the first time. Many cheered and many boo'd . . . it was so loud!

  3. I love having an emergency pack stash! It's great for so many reasons... rainy days... cardboard therapy... writer's block. The list goes on and on.

    1. I don't do it often, but I've been wanting to opens some packs lately. I've really cut down on that since I've started blogging.

  4. Can't believe Baylor and Kansas both pooped the bed.

    1. Yeah I was surprised. That Baylor game was a defensive struggle. Looked like Kansas State had a good game plan for the Baylor big guys. Bruce Weber is a good coach, but also certifiably insane. Hopefully WVU can take advantage of their opportunity.

  5. An emergency pack stash, great idea! Also, I've got some WVU cards to send your way along with a few Pirates. I wouldn't mind that Markakis, if you wouldn't mind setting it to the side for me.
