I briefly touched in my collecting roots post the other day that I use to spend every penny I earned on all types of cardboard. One genre I haven't shown yet on the blog is vintage cards. I don't have a ton, but since the Pirates are off tonight I figured I would showcase a few old cards. Hope you enjoy them. Excuse the pics as both cards were in screwdowns.
Both of these are from the 1955 Topps All American set. The Rockne is in really nice shape while the Thorpe is fair. The set is not super expensive so the thought always crossed my mind to chase more cards out of it, but I end up talking myself out of it. I like Pirate and WVU cards too much right now to take on side projects. Maybe someday....
Thanks for checking out the blog. Go Bucs!
I have all the Wolverines from that set because it looks amazing. Congrats on the two greats!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dennis! The set does have a nice look to it. I think if I could find a Red Grange for a decent price the other parts of the set would be affordable.
DeleteBoth of these are awesome. It's a great looking set. One of these days, I'd like to pick up a Thorpe for my collection.
ReplyDeleteI think a few are on Ebay right now! Go for it Fuji!!!!
DeleteThank you for sharing these two cards, very cool.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brady! This was a nice break from the Pirate stuff. I don't look through my vintage cards very often.
