One of my favorite ways to accumulate trade bait is to find cheap lots. A few years back I found a nice stack of 2010 Topps Chrome rookies. Of course this didn't include the Strasburg rookie auto, but it had a good bit of established MLB players. I remember Jason Heyward, Mike Leake and this guy....
I traded all the other Chrome rookies to various trade partners, but since Stanton was always a personal favorite I held onto him. He is in the small group of players I occasionally add that aren't Pirates. It is going to be fun to watch Judge, Sanchez and Stanton obliterate baseballs.
A quick programming note. I've just placed an order for a new computer. Looking forward to getting back to my normal scanning routine. While phone apps are helpful they just don't work well for the mass scanning that needs to be done on big trades.
Wow! I wouldn't mind having one of those right about now, though I do remember pulling one or two of him from 2008 Razor Letterman (which I believe was picked in the hit draft we had).
ReplyDeleteWhat computer did you end up ordering?
Pretty much the same one you sent me!
Deletenice card to have. Stanton will finally have some much deserved recognition. I foresee some price gouging!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure someone has to be sitting on a gold mine. No one collects the Marlins so they have probably been hoarded by some prospector.
DeleteHmmmm... Mike Stanton... is he related to Giancarlo?? :P
ReplyDeleteTwo totally different people.
DeleteIs this a card of the lefty reliever?
ReplyDeleteYes....This is in my Loogy binder
DeleteAs a Blue Jays guys I am not looking forward to him on the Yankees at alllll
ReplyDeleteYeah, he is going to torment pitchers in the East for a long time. I feel sorry for left handed pitchers especially with that right handed loaded lineup.
DeleteThat's not bait, that's a fish. And a mighty big one.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun when these pan out. The Jason Heyward I got in the lot was probably the big fish at the time.
DeleteJudge is better.
ReplyDeleteCervelli is better
DeleteNice. You were smart to hold onto it. Might be even smarter to sell it to a Yankee fan willing to pay top dollar right now though ;)
ReplyDeleteI probably should sell it. I just haven't done that in a long time.
DeleteSweet. That's kind of you to send it to me. Appreciate it, buddy.
ReplyDeleteI sent it last week....did it arrive?
