One Last Push for the Contest

I was hoping to close things out today, but I have a sick kid at home so time is limited.  So one more day to get entered.  My wife and I both really tired so I'm likely going to crash once I get home from work.

I've been finding some good stuff.  Lot's of "hits" and newer cards which might help with set needs. Depending on who wins I may contact you so I can tailor the prize more to your collecting interests.  Rest assured this is not a way for me to drop all my Marlins cards on someone....Although that would be diabolical plan.

I'm Sharing Treasure

My organization projects have been unearthing lots of treasure.  As I dig box to box you can see signs of attempted organization gone awry. I've found stacks of trade bait that were hastily put aside and post worthy cards that I went as far as placing in team bags to keep the cards together. I didn't even remember doing that, but a much welcomed development.

With newly found non Pirate cards I figured I could hold a little contest.  Might not be as grandiose as some in the past, but I'm a motivated shipper right now.  Just comment below to be entered.

Another year is in the books! The funny thing is I don't feel like the blog has changed a whole lot since I first started.  Not quite sure if that is a good or bad thing, but either way I've had a lot of fun.  I have no plans of slowing down so hopefully many more anniversaries to come. Guess I just have too much fun interacting with all you maniacs.  

If you are newer to my blog, the origin story is here.  It is little long winded, but it details what gave me so much time to get things up and running.  In case you are wondering my daughter is doing just fine now.  She is in preschool and has a motor that doesn't quit.  I'm also thankful she has her mothers looks. 

Finally, big thanks to all of those who send me cards and comment on the blog.  I really do appreciate it. We all blog for ourselves, but the interaction is nice motivation to keep going.  Big virtual high five to everyone.

I've been in a little bit of a funk recently in terms of my collection.  I think a big issue is that I have too much clutter and it just needs cleaned.  In order to motivate myself and to get some trade packages out I thought I would hold a contests.   As of now my Sunday is free and I'm hoping to devote some time to the cause.

The Big 1000 and a Contest

This is actually post 999, but I figured I would go ahead and get things rolling.  First and foremost thanks to everyone who reads about my card exploits. The interaction is what makes blogging fun. I feel like I've gotten to know many of you without actually meeting in person.

For those who don't know the origins of this blog I'll go ahead and share a quick link here.  Long story short, my daughter was born very premature and spent months in the hospital. When she finally came home she was on oxygen for 7 months. During this time my wife and I had to stay up all hours of the night to make sure she didn't pull the oxygen from her nose.  This created a lot of downtime in the middle of the night.  In that time I started the blog.  She has grown up a lot!



Now for the contest.  I'm only going to pick one winner, but it will have a BIG prize.  Like all my other contests I'll cater to your collection. I promise it will be awesome. To enter all you need to do is comment below. No need to promote or blog pimp. Just one entry per person.  I'll pick a winner once the comments stop coming in.

Bob Walk the Plank turned 3 yesterday!

I like blog milestones because it gives me a reason to do a contest. Having a contest always motivates me to send out a bunch of cards. I'm sitting on a decent amount of trade bait, so depending on who wins the contest I may already have something to send.

I'll only choose one winner as my blogging birthday is going to be fairly close to my 1000th post which I have something bigger in scope in store. Like I said above I have so many cards right now that many of my regular trade partners will receive some sort of package no matter what. The winner will just receive something a little extra special.

As per all my other contests you just need to comment below.  You can tell a joke, leave a recipe, say hi or make fun of me personally.  It all works the same. No more than 1 entry. I'll end the contest on Friday.

Also, no need to promote the contest. It can be an intimate affair! Let's celebrate!

Let's get excited about free cards!!!

I'm still trying to adjust to my daughters new sleep schedule.  She is staying up later so I've been having to be a little more creative to find time for cardboard.  While I've been keeping up with the blog, I've been a little more behind than I would like shipping out cards to my frequent trading partners. My remedy to get cards out the door is to hold a contest.

As with all my contests all you have to do is comment and you are entered. I'll pick at least two winners and may add a third if a high volume turns out.  I'm not going to keep this one open long though as I plan on drawing late afternoon on Friday.

The prizes will be a couple of cards from your favorite team or player.  I'm actually pretty stocked with trade bait right now so depending on who wins I may be able to ship immediately.  If I need to do a little shopping it might be a couple weeks before you get your cards.  Either way I think you'll be happy.

I'm 600 Posts Old Today (Contest Time)

I didn't notice until last night that this post is number 600.  That seems like good enough reason to have a contest. As most of you know I like to keep things simple.  Just leave a post in the comment section. If the turn out is high I may add more winners.  I'll tailor a package to the winner(s) specific collecting habits.

Things have been flowing pretty well lately at Bob Walk headquarters. The trading has still been the main focus, but the collaboration box breaks have really taken off recently as well. Also, I should be able to introduce WAR Games in the next week or so which should be a lot of fun for everybody.

I turn 500 Posts Old Today (Contest Time)

My post Sunday was #500! I couldn't be more happy how things have progressed with Bob Walk the Plank. The blog started because collecting was becoming stale for me. Craving interaction I started trading relentlessly. As we stand now I've received 187 trade packages! While it will be hard to keep this pace, trading will always remain the blogs main purpose.

The cool thing about all the trading is the bonds I've developed with so many of you. I appreciate all the emails and comments and truly feel that I've made a whole new group of friends. Our hobby has its share of shady people, but the blogosphere made me realize that their are still plenty of good people out there. 

Ok, enough sappy stuff. Time for free cards! I like keeping my contests as simple as possible.  All you need to do is comment below (make sure you are following the blog) and that gets you entered. I'll close things off later this week and pick 3 winners via random.org. Once the winners are picked I'll do a little customized shopping to make sure the cards are tailored to your collection. No extra entries for a blog plug, but my usual protocol is to add more winners if the response is good. So if you want to share by all means share.

Bob Walk the Plank Birthday Extravaganza Contest

Today marks my one year anniversary of starting Bob Walk the Plank. The whole idea came about from being bored with the process of accumulating cards via eBay and filing them away. I was craving cardboard discussion and in the process hopefully establishing some trade partners. The free time that allowed everything to come together was explained in this post.

In a year I was able to complete over 100 trades and post almost daily.  I knew going in I wouldn't have the time for original content oriented posts so I focused on trade posts, box breaks and recent pickups. This kept the daily upkeep to a minimum and allowed me the time to read and comment on most of the blogs in my feed. The frequent commenting turned out to be a big factor in finding many trade partners. Also, big thanks to all of you who comment on my blog. The interaction makes things fun.

Going forward I hope for more of the same. I find that I do better not setting rules and guidelines for myself and just letting things happen organically. 

So a big thanks to all of you for checking out the blog on a regular basis.

A Dimwitted Contest

Sam from the blog The Daily Dimwit recently came out of retirement. This was awesome for a few reasons. First, Sam is a great trader. I was only able to swap with him once as I was relatively new, but it was a big trade involving a Mark Appel and Geno Smith auto. Secondly, Sam was having an easy contest as a welcome back. All you had to do was leave a comment. I was lucky enough to win. Here is the free swag.

Sam was nice enough to tailor the prize and send me all Pirates. The big surprise was the two low numbered Triple Threads cards. The Clemente is a silver parallel /99 and the Grilli is a multi-swatch jersey /36. Awesome cards Sam! Also, it was a nice touch sending the mini Pirates pennant. 

It is nice having you back Sam. I'm looking forward to trading with you again in the near future.Thanks for the contest.

I've been wanting to do something to thank everybody for making Bob Walk the Plank such an enjoyable endeavor.  The generosity of the blogging community ceases to amaze me.  I started the blog with the hopes of making a few trade partners, but never did I think it would blow up the way it has.  Of my 200+ posts almost 1/3 are trades.

This will be a simple contest.  All you need to do to enter is to leave one comment on this post with your favorite team and/or players.  The only requirement is that you are a registered follower of the blog.  One entry per person.

The prizes will depend on the number of entries.

20 or less entries the winner will receive a relic and parallel card
21 to 35 entries the winner will receive an auto
Above 35 will be an auto, relic and parallel card

If I get above 50 entries I will pick 3 winners!  So tell your friends.  The more participants I get the better the prizes will be!  Once the winner or winners have been determined I will do some Ebay/COMC shopping to make sure the prize fits in your collection.

I will close the contest at 9pm est on Friday the 12th.  I will then put all the participants names in Random.org and randomize it 5 times to determine the winner(s).
