Design Flaw and Ticket to Stardom

I had such high hopes for this to be my big catch up week with my mail.  I think this picture says it all.

When I get busy at work and have things to do in the evening this is what happens.  It is a good problem to have, but it gets frustrating when you want to scan and post. One of my main issues is that I have a fundamental flaw in the design of my house.  My office is in to close proximity to my daughters room. If I don't scan before 9pm it likely is not happening that night.  My daughter is a lot of things, but a sound sleeper isn't one. I can maybe sneak a scan or two, but bulk scanning is out of the question.  Once she wakes she is hard to put back down. A lot of walking on eggshells in my house.

On nights I get a late start I go to a scan folder of interesting cards.

Do you remember anything about the 2009 Tickets to Stardom set? I remember seeing some of the relics and ticket stub cards, but that is about it. The base set is nothing special with the exception of the Cutch card. I purchased this more for the obscurity of the set than the looks.

I believe  Cutch is wearing a Pittsburgh Crawfords uniform of the Negro Leagues. The photo is pretty blurry. To me the more unique cards were the ticket stub relics.  Here is cool one for reference I stole off of Google Images.

That is a WBC card Masahiro Tanaka.  Pretty cool.

Thanks for reading!

  1. I have a similar issue at my house.

I remember that set. There were some that were perforated like a ticket stub, right?

    1. Yeah. I didn't remember the base cards, but the hits were pretty memorable.

That is the uniform that Cutch is wearing. It also shows up on a UD Unique Unis card, btw.

    1. Actually my buddy just informed me that is the 1909 World Series uniform. It looked like the Crawfords.

  3. My Kmart had discount blasters of this product for a long time-I even bought one but the design is so off putting I regret the purchase.

    1. I would buy this set on discount without reservation. It has a novelty factor. The Kmarts in my area went out of business. Kroger, Giant Eagle and Walmart were too much competition for them to survive. At their peak the card aisle was the best in the area. They had a ton of stuff.

  4. Heck I like the set, trying to finish it off. and yes there is a perforated parallel set like the Jack Wilson above.

    1. Normally I just scan a bunch on the weekends, but college football season takes up a lot of time. Our house is like a hotel that time of year with friends coming in. In hindsight I should have researched quiet scanners....
