NYC Pictures

Just got back in town this evening from our getaway weekend in New York City.  My wife really seemed to have a good time celebrating her 32nd birthday 21st birthday. Since she has been there so many times our trips usually revolve around a show and finding some good food. Needless to say I stuffed my face full of all kinds of good food this weekend.

My hope is that our next trip will be a little longer so we can spend some time outside Manhattan at some of the attractions a little further out.  Maybe I could even have enough time to have some in person trading with a few of my NYC area blogging friends. Sound good Kenny and AJ?  Here are a few pics from the trip.

The view from my hotel.  We were told it just opened within the past year.  It was really nice and pretty spacious for a Times Square hotel.  Usually you are lucky if there is enough room to walk in between the bed and the television.

Here I am getting ready to stuff my face full of seafood and pasta.  I have no regrets.  It would have been more than enough to feed both my wife and I, but I attempted it anyway.  Beneath all that seafood was about a pound of homemade pasta. I wanted to crawl under the table and take a nap by the time I called it quits. Maybe if I knew there was some kind of free tshirt for finishing I would have gave it the old college try and soldiered on.

Saturday afternoon my wife and I met one of her college friends where the local WVU alumni chapter has watch parties for the football games.  Nice to see the colors being flown in a downtown NYC bar.  It was a really nice Irish Pub that actually didn't cost and arm and a leg to have a few drinks.

One of the nice features about our hotel was that it had a cool rooftop bar. Supposedly it is the highest in Manhattan.  I stole this picture off the Internet because the pictures I took sucked.  The view was amazing, but in order to drink at this bar you would have to take a 2nd mortgage out on your house.  $25 cocktails are not my cup of tea.  We found a nice dive bar a little off the beaten path that better suited our budget.

That is more like it.

All and all it was a great trip.  For my wife and I, little weekend trips will have to do until our daughter is a little older.  The good thing is that we live very close to a lot of metro areas.  If you pay attention to the travel sites you can nab some good last second deals to New York, Boston and Chicago.

Back to cards tomorrow!  Thanks for reading.

    1. It was amazing. The picture doesn't really do justice just how big that bowl was.

    1. I bet Tommy could have finished. There was so much seafood....the pasta was really delicious, but I focused on the expensive part.

  5. I'm disappointed that you don't have a mullet and a mustache like your "hero" Bob does. :-)

Great pictures. I always enjoy my trips to NYC. I haven't been in a few years though.

    1. My pale Irish complexion helped me out. I got a free pint from a bartender because I think he thought I was from the homeland.

That was my first trip since early 2012. Hopefully it will become a yearly thing.

    1. It was the Hyatt Times Square. I really enjoyed it. The staff was the nicest I've ever seen. One of the bellman told me that they hired a bunch of young fresh faces from all different types of service industry jobs, not necessarily hotels.
