In Honor of the Homerun Derby

I'm going to show this card featuring the Black Bears hitting coach.

I should try and get an actual Aaron Judge card

That was a fun performance by the Yankees slugger. I think people must like to bitch because he deserves all the praise in the world. Baseball is fun, Aaron Judge is fun, maybe lighten up and enjoy the ride.  The guy looks like a superhero. Hey Yankees, the Pirates will trade you some relief help for him.  Sound good?

Thanks for reading.

  1. I like my players human, not super heroes, but I know I'm "overruled" (heh) on this. Whatever. HR Derby is OK, but I need something with a little more meaning.

    1. I don't care for the derby too much either. I just enjoyed watching him hit the ball 500 feet.

  2. I think my favorite part of the derby is watching the player reactions. You get to witness a side of the players you don't see on a regular game day. Surprisingly, Justin Bour was a lot of fun to watch!

    1. I've read some Bour to the Yankees rumors. That would be an impressive middle of the order.

  3. This guy is pretty impressive. Hope he's another player that kids can root for (even if he's a Yankee). A few weeks ago at the card show I attended there were at least a handful of people (adults & kids) looking for his cards. If him and guys like Sanchez and Bellinger can help resuscitate the hobby... I'm all for it.

    1. Anyone playing for the Yankees is going to get more coverage than he deserves. That is the nature of playing on the biggest stage. I'm just impressed how well he has handled everything. The guy had a Babe Ruth first half.

  4. I think he looks more like Jaws from the Bond films (Richard Kiel) than a super "hero" but I still think it's a blast to see him launching Homers.
Sano hit one in time with a lightning strike, that was a highlight for me..
All 4 semifinalists were 25 or younger, should be a good event next year too!

    1. Ha! I could definitely see JAWS. I'll lose it if he dresses as him for Halloween.

That Sano lightning homerun should be a Topps Now card

  5. JAWS! that's it! it's been making me nuts trying to figure out who Judge reminded me of! I'm sure he is talented. I recall a McGwire blasting HRs his rookie year and how that ended. Only time will tell.

    1. It has been an impressive showing for sure. He isn't Babe Ruth good like his first half stats indicate, but lots of great signs showing he is going to be a star.
