Flying Dutchman

2011 Topps Tribute Honus Wagner Dual Relic 27/99

I believe this is my only Honus relic card.  He tends to run very expensive so I rarely search to add more to my collection.  The picture doesn't do this card justice.  It is a very sharp looking card.  My daughter wasn't allowing me to do a regular scan tonight so the phone had to do.  Tribute's glossy finish tends to leave a nasty glare so I apologize.

I've owned the card for a few years now so I don't exactly remember how much I paid.  I'm guessing since this was around the time I got married maybe I splurged as it would be one of the last expenses that I didn't have to justify.  This card is perhaps the last link to my single carefree card purchasing days.  At least I went out with a bang.

My Pirates are just brutal to watch right now.  After blowing a 6 run lead last night to the Giants we stand 8 below .500.  It is to early to panic, but it is time to start winning some series.  The Brewers are the only team in the division playing well so there is still some time to dig out of the early hole.  Right now we are paying the price for our inactivity during the offseason.  We could really use AJ Burnett right now.  End of rant.

Anybody going to open some Bowman?

  1. Hello. That is nice. I've dreamed about getting one of those types of cards but have never been able to put the sight on the target, much less pull the trigger. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thanks Mark! It is tough to pull the trigger on cards like that. $ wise you start questioning in your head if it is worth it or not. One Wagner might equal 5-10 relics of your favorite player or team. I'm glad I have it, but probably won't actively look to add more.

  2. Wow, that is a wonderful looking card -- the shininess is appropriate for that card. I mean, it *should* look special.

    1. Topps did make the card look nice. Just hard to share with other people. One of these years I will be able to scan instead of using my phone.

    1. Ha! Sorry to get your hopes up. I do have a fair amount of Blyleven's but I'm sure you probably have them.

  4. No plans to bust any Bowman... but that's one beautiful card.

    1. I usually only cherry pick Pirates off of eBay. We don't have much this year so it will be a nice break. Last two years have been crazy.
