Hidden Treasures

My organization skills are lacking sometimes when it comes to my cards. Ever since I started the blog I've been adding cards at a vigorous pace. The normal protocol is get cards, scan cards, blog about cards and store cards. While this seems simple enough life can get in the way and cause a backlog of cardboard. That is when piles upon piles accumulate on my desk.

Last night while searching through these piles I came across two really cool cards.

I believe the top one came from crazy man Jaybarker and the bottom was an eBay pickup. I don't have many Flying Dutchmen cards, but the ones I do have are among my favorites. It is easy to hide logos when dealing with the prewar players. I think that why all the Panini throwback sets are received much better than sets like Prizm and Donruss.

Here is my best Wagner that I showcased last Spring.

Now back to more organizing. Maybe my desk will throw up something else fun!

  1. Alright you've got a Honus Wagner parallel and bat relic. Now all we need to do is get you a jersey relic, his autograph and of course his T206.

  2. This happens to me more than I'd like to admit. Still not sure whether to look at it as a pleasant surprise, or a clear sign that I have waaaay too many cards.

  3. Great cards of an all-time great! I'm jealous of your bat relic of Wagner even though I'm not a Pirates collector--I think the equivalent for me would be something of Cobb, and I can't imagine finding something of his in my price range.

    1. Well that Wagner was a pre wedding card so budget wasn't as much of a concern.

  4. I sort of have a love/hate relationship with the stacks of unsorted cards on my desk. On one hand, it's fun to sift through cards and see what you have. On the other hand... I'm not a fan of clutter... but I usually don't have the time to keep the stacks from piling up.

Thankfully last week's winter break allowed me to clear off 90% of my desk... and I too found some hidden treasures that I had long forgotten about.

    P.S. Sweet Wagner bat card.

    1. Right now my only hope is that the Grandparents take my daughter for a weekend. By the time she goes to bed I just have time to post and read the blogs. Sorting always gets pushed to the wayside. Reading about cards is just more fun.

  6. Right on, Matthew! Great cards, the lot of them. I love the Cooperstown, but who can ignore the double bat relic?!

  7. Amazing relic. That's so cool. The Panini Pastime looks really nice too. I like the Cooperstown, but I've seen that photo a lot at this point.

    1. Yeah that is a common one. I liked the Americas Pastime set, but it was way overpriced.
