2 of 3 Ain't Bad... and a Blog Plug

The Pirates were unable to get the sweep this afternoon against the Cubs.  Pitching looks to already be in midseason form, but the bats are still hibernating.  The Cubs pitched around McCutchen (walked 5 times in series) and went after Pedro Alvarez which proved to be a good formula.  Lets hope the bats wake up against the Cardinals this weekend.

The silver autos from Tier One have a good look to them as the auto seems to really shine on the jet black background. I've seen a few of these showcased on blogs and they always look sharp.  I also have a Joel Hanrahan from this set that I'll show down the road sometime.

On a different note a friend of mine has recently started a Mets blog called The Home Run Apple. Everybody should take the time to troll him about being from New Jersey or liking the Mets and the Giants. I've already sent him links to the Fangraphs positional rankings for bullpens after the Mets blew the game against the Nationals the other day.  Fangraphs said they had the worst bullpen in baseball and could construct a better bullpen from minor league free agents.  In all seriousness Keith is a good guy who has recently returned to collecting cards.  He already has a trade bait link so take a look and start following him.

  1. Not very good at the following thing, but added him as a favorite blog. Noticed an oversight that you weren't on there either. Thought you were so added you as well being I come here all the time it seems.

    1. Thanks for following. Maybe we can work out a trade soon.

  2. I'd like to throw the A's bullpen into the discussion. Okay... maybe not the whole bullpen... but our closer has blown two saves in two outings.

Btw... beautiful McCutchen. I just picked up my first autograph of him the other day.

    1. Jim Johnson is kind of an enigma. He doesn't throw hard and relies on a sinker. If the sinker isn't on it becomes a slow straight fastball. When it is on he is one of the best.

    2. By the way I'm looking forward to seeing your McCutchen!

    3. It's his 2011 Topps Lineage. I was looking for an affordable, hard signed card and that's the best deal I could find. I'll post it up one of these days.

    4. That is a good one to get. To my knowledge it is the most affordable Cutch out there. It was originally a redemption but was filled quickly.

    5. I didn't know it was a redemption. Thanks for the heads up.

  3. I wouldn't worry about their bats waking up against the Cards, they will, especially Cardinal killer Pedro Alvarez!

    1. Lets hope Pedro hits like he did during the playoffs. He is a notoriously slow starter, my guess the Cards won't have anything to worry about until June.
