My Experiences With Both Panini and Topps Redemption Exchange.

This year I decided to clear all my pending redemptions with Panini and Topps.  The Panini portion of the exchange was a tough pill to swallow because my pending items were Andrew McCutchen autos.  I held out FOREVER with the hope that they would be filled, but finally it not so many words Panini customer service told me there was no chance.

I'll give Panini credit.  After making email contact they did everything they could to give me cards that fit into my collection.  I wrote about it here......

My Topps experience was easy in the sense that all you do is click a button online, but the execution is probably a little less desirable. After you click that you want to exchange, it is up to Topps on what they send.  From what I can see they do a really nice job in terms of value but the system doesn't cater to getting you your chosen team.  It feels that Topps automatically assumes you pulled every redemption out of the pack.  This likely helps them weed through all the people that want Mike Trout autos in return for their Henry Owens redemptions.

This Amed Rosario was given to me in exchange for a pending Garrett Jones auto.  Rosario is a highly regarded prospect, so in terms of value I have no complaints. Plus this will be a really nice card to trade to one of my Mets friends like Doug.  It just isn't a Pirates card.

So both redemption experiences were completely different, but you really can't be angry at the results of either. If I had a higher end Topps redempiton I would have attempted to go the extra mile to make sure something I collected was sent back in the exchange.  Since it was just a Garrett Jones that I had no money invested in I was happy with pot luck.

Thanks for reading.

    1. I had unique experiences with both. Both turned out well, but you see horror stories all the time.

  2. It's weird that Panini isn't honoring Cutch auto redemptions but are putting Cutch sticker autos in their past two years products.

    1. I think so much time had elapsed on mine that they just washed their hands with them.

  3. I’ve been waiting on a replacement/substitute redemption from Topps for 14 months. Whenever I call they say “oh it’s because you chose to do request the substitute online.”

  4. They need to just get rid of redemptions completely. I have came across five redemptions, three with Topps and two with Panini. Panini came through on one, but it took over a year. Topps never was able to fullfill the cards.

I wish they would just stop doing redemptions...

    1. I understand why they do them, but everyone hates them. The only good thing about them is if you pay attention on the secondary market you can find some deals.

  5. Very nice, I remember getting his autograph in person back in 2014. Never thought he'd go on to be one of the best prospects in all of baseball.

    1. Yeah, I was happy with the return. He is no Garrett Jones but it will do...:)

  6. I have outstanding redemptions with both companies, but I'm willing to wait it out. Although both players (Conforto & Altuve) I'm waiting on just had career years.

    1. It seems like Altuve should be filled or at the very least a replacement auto of his be created.

  7. I have been waiting over 7 months for a 1/1 super auto of Cody Bellinger that I paid over $3k for! Everytime I contact Topps it was a new story on why it is being held up. Then I was told the card was too valuable to substitute and that they didn't have anything to match its value in stock?! The last time I tried they told me I would simply have to wait longer. I am getting extremely frustrated with Topps!

  8. Yeah im very disappointed with topps. It seems that the players sign the stickers but they seem to have filled some of the newer cards. Dont you think W.T.F. is up with that. Ive been waiting and waiting. But yet they forgot about mine. Everyone is waiting in line.but i never cut in line. I should be before them i don't think topps gives a fuck.bad way to do business. Let me take over I'll get the shit done right for the people that keeps this hobby alive. But for how much longer will people care. Very sad topps and all others .
