It was fun to get to witness a #1 team go down in Morgantown for the second year in a row (Kansas and now Baylor). This really can't even be considered an upset though as most oddsmakers had the Mountaineers as a slight favorite. Winning on the road is hard in college basketball. Either way Baylor came in having arguably the most impressive resume so far in basketball and WVU handled them with relative ease. I'm hoping the Mountaineers can crack the top 5 soon.
Back to cards tomorrow.....
I watched some of the game. I don't understand how Baylorbwas ranked#1 to start with. Good win for WV
ReplyDeleteBaylor played a ridiculously hard non conference schedule. We are just a tough matchup at home for the Big 12 teams because of the travel and atmosphere. Our student section is basically court side so it can get hostile quickly.
DeleteA 21 point win over #1? A home or not, that's quite impressive.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen WVU play yet, but heard their defense can be quite stifling. The local radio personalities were very distraught after WVU had their way with the Illini.
WVU will struggle with teams that are deep at guard. Baylor has some very talented bigs, but their guards really struggled to bring the ball up the floor. By the time the offense gets set up 15 seconds of the shot clock was gone.
DeleteThe Illinois game was probably the best we had played all year on both sides of the ball until this game. WVU is a good team, but we will lost several more times because we are not a great shooting team and foul trouble is a common occurrence. With that being said this is the deepest team we've had in quite some time. The Final Four WVU team had star power, but this team plays 11 guys.
Good win for WVU!
ReplyDeleteI miss the Big East.
DeleteI second that
DeleteWVU is slowly getting back some of the traditional rivals during non conference time but its just not the same. The football team opens up with Virginia Tech next year.
DeleteYour press made us look silly all night. Well deserved.
ReplyDeleteJust glad we caught your guys on a bad night. Both teams are poised for nice tournament runs this year.
DeleteGood win no doubt, but no need to storm the court! Your #10. Your suppose to win your home games no matter who comes in.
ReplyDeleteWe just need to stay in the top ten for a couple of years and that will stop. I have no problem with the court storming though. Just a little harmless fun :)
DeleteIt's amazing how much home court matters! Nice win and great that you were there!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah....big time. If you can take care of business at home and win 50% of your road games you are in business.
