Rotation Line Change

Pirates prized pitching prospect Tyler Glasnow makes his debut this afternoon. It should make for good TV as Glasnow is a 6'8 flame throwing strikeout machine.  What will make it interesting is that he has some significant command issues.  He has been able to work around this in AAA, but obviously this is a different animal.  Double digit k's and 4-6 walks have been commonplace for him, but this will likely not be a recipe for success in the big leagues.

I'm hoping he shows enough to stay in the rotation the rest of the year.  Habitual under performers Jeff Locke and Jon Niese have no upside so it really shouldn't take a whole lot to knock them out.

Why does work always get in the way of baseball?

I've uttered this line many times - which is why I always have a small, portable radio with ear buds stashed in my desk drawer.

    1. Yeah... earbuds don't work when you're trying to teach math to a bunch of teenagers and the Cubs keep scheduling 1:20 start times. Argh!
I'm really looking forward to seeing Glasnow pitch. I'm a prospect guy for sure, but nothing gets me more excited than a flamethrower with strikeout potential! (Just wish he didn't have to debut against my struggling Cubs.)

    2. I always hate when the Pirates play the Cubs. Nothing is worse than having 3 day games. Who in the heck plays Friday day games? I just assume that everyone on the north side of Chicago doesn't have a job.

    3. My go to is the At Bat app for viewing during work hours.

  2. Woof that Bowman Victory auto is the bee's knee's. Good luck, it'll be fun to see if the Pirates can actually have a rotation where it's not just Cole, Liriano and three other guys.

    1. Yeah....I figured Taillon and Glasnow were going to join the rotation no matter what, but the Pirates had to expect that Niese would pitch a little better. Either way it is making things fun watching the prospects make their debuts.

  3. Great question! Work gets in the way of so many great things: baseball, ice cream eating, sleeping, etc. Nice cards, too.

    1. Thanks Peter! Work tends to get in the way of a lot of Pirate games. Having to play the Cubs creates a lot of day games.
